Amsterdam based bag designer Audrey weeren presents Label3: recycled leather bags.
1. What is your story behind your product? On one hand a have my design, which starts with a sketch. On the other hand I work with recycled leather that comes to life, again. I mix these two and that’s what Label 3 is about. I use jackets, couches to design the bags, belts, shoe socks, bracelets and rings. The beauty of used materials inspires me. Working in this way makes every piece unique in colour and texture. For the lining of the bags I mostly use new, but also beautiful vintage fabrics. Depending on the leather, it’s possible to silk screen print the material. It gives me a new opportunity to bring graphics and even more colour in the bags. The print will maybe slowly vanish by using the bag and I think it gives character to the product and it suites my label.
Dutch Shoe Designer Anna Korshun, present her Shoe Collection : Moya Pravda! (My truth).
1. What is your story behind your product? Before starting to design my collection I followed a workshop about sustainability, offered by a shoe company called Camper. I learned a lot during that workshop about sustainability. And when I came back to the academy I stared to look differently at the thinks that I did before. As a shoe designer I have a close connection with the fashion industry. And in fashion everything is changing constantly: new colors, new trends, new seasons. I wanted to stop this speed madness and design something “timeless”. Shoes that could be used for many generations.
2. What are your values of luxury? For me luxury in shoe industry is a combination between aesthetics Read the rest of this entry »

1.What is your story behind your product? I made an outdoor lighting of beeswax. This material fits very well in a natural environment, gives a yellowish glow and smells nice when it gets warm. Beeswax also changes during the year by the sun, rain and wind. A led that is charged by solar cells provides the light. This way the lamp is charged by the nature that it lights at night.

For my graduation collection I ask myself the question: is a chair purely functional? Is it a showpiece and a visual story? Or is it an expression of technical know-how and therefore representative of its era? With this topic I deconstruct 19th and 20th century design classics and translates the craftsmanship of the pieces into new materials to develop new techniques. To generate this I use self-designed construction tools. Read the rest of this entry »

“Don’t put on your skin what you can’t eat.”
Have you ever realized that everything we put on our skin enters our body? Like food does. Many of you are conscious about what you eat and will possibly buy organic foods. But I bet that not many of you have ever carefully read the ingredient lists of the cosmetic products you use. (And if you did you possibly did not looked for long, because those lists are almost impossible to read with all the mysterious sounding ingredient names on them. )
Have you ever realized that most of the cosmetic products we use daily contain harmful (chemical/synthetic) ingredients? Read the rest of this entry »
